Preschool age children are defined as those between the age of 32 months and 5 years of age. These children are under direct supervision of a staff member at all times.
- The preschool program serves a maximum of 40 children. The preschoolers are separated into smaller groups at various times throughout the day for projects, small group play and activities.
- The preschool program will be open Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm, except for holidays designated by the Child Care Board of Directors.
- The educational method is based on the environment. The environment is such that learning is encouraged through interaction with materials and people. Religious aspects will be discussed as the children have an interest. Grace will be said before meals and snacks.
- This program will enhance the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of Toddlers. Since children progress at an individual rate, each child will be allowed to progress at their own pace.
- Intellectual Development
The children will develop an understanding of concepts about themselves, others, and the world around them through observation, interacting with people and real objects, and seeking solutions to concrete problems.
- Social Development
The children will be in situations, which allow for interaction with caregivers and which foster parallel and interactive play with their peers. The children will be provided with many opportunities o develop social skills such as: cooperating, helping, negotiating, and talking with the people involved to solve interpersonal problems.
- Emotional Development
All children will be treated with utmost respect by staff, with the purpose of each child developing a positive self-esteem.
- Physical Development
The children will have an opportunity to use large and small muscles on a daily basis.
- Conferences will be held twice a year. All aspects of the child’s development will be evaluated.
- The preschool program will provide activities that are both quiet and active, teacher directed and child initiated.
- The preschool program will provide for a variety of activities that require the use of varied equipment and materials, such as puzzles; puppets; cognitive toys; art activities; music activities; dramatic play; and small manipulative toys.
