Infant Childcare Program

• Infants are under direct supervision of a staff member at all times. They will be checked every 15 minutes while in the nap room and the auditory monitor will be in operation while infants are napping.
• The infant program serves a maximum of 8 children maintaining a teacher-child ratio of 1:4.
• The infant program will be open Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm, except for holidays designated by the Child Care Board of Directors.
• Infants will be given the opportunity to explore their environment in a safe, nurturing atmosphere.
• Care of infants will be individualized to their particular needs. The infants will be cared for in a way that optimizes opportunities for learning and social interaction in daily routine activities.
• This program will enhance the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development of infants. Since children progress at an individual rate, each child will be allowed to progress at their own pace.

• Each infant will have specific goals in each of these areas and these goals will be posted. The primary caregiver will review the individualized goals monthly.
• A daily log will be used to document each infant’s intellectual, physical, social and emotional progress and will be conveyed to parents during conferences. Conferences will be held twice a year. All aspects of the child’s development will be evaluated.
• The infant program will provide activities that are both quiet and active, teacher directed and child initiated.
• Each infant’s daily schedule will be individualized to meet his/her needs, including both indoor and outdoor.
